Lyrics
I grew up a good catholic boy
I goosestepped in line with the convoy
A confession box on every street
The hands on the cross that always bleed
A gothic church stood near us
I still have a bootleg of Jesus
kept his tattoo below my spleen
But I left that scene when I turned fifteen
Girls appeared unexpectedly
their effect was deadly
I was the emperor without clothes
She was a thorn looking for a rose
How could things ever get better
When her heart was like a sealed letter
Love is a bridge between two hearts
But the banks of the river were far apart
I set out wandering for a while
This guitar and I, we walked a mile
The good days are over, everybody says
That the world is in a terrible mess
Listen girl won’t you come with me
In this wide world there is much to see
You bring the milk, I bring the flour
And we’ll make pudding in half an hour
Life’s a game of snakes and ladders
I still don’t know if it all matters
When I received a terrible blow
I had to turn my lamp down low
And so I have learned a thing or two
And it ain’t from Google or Yahoo
keep on singing, keep on gigging
If stuck in a hole, stop digging
At night I wake three times to pee
Without my glasses I can’t see
My skin feels like the bark of a tree
But the old songs still sound great to me
Now every day seems like a battle
But I’m not ready to hang up my saddle
Like a bird I plan to fly
Till I fall out of the sky
